Deretter str&oslash;mmer det flytende kj&oslash;lemiddelet gjennom t&oslash;rkerfilteret (8) (for &aring; unng&aring; fuktighet og partikler), og deretter til ekspansjonselementet (ekspansjonsventil eller kapill&aelig;r) (7). Etter &aring; ha passert gjennom ekspansjonselementet (7) skifter kj&oslash;lemiddelet til mye lavere temperatur og trykk. Dette kj&oslash;lemiddelet kommer deretter inn i&nbsp;fordamperen (4) og absorberer varme fra inntakets varme trykkluft for &aring; fordampe. Etter fordamping g&aring;r kj&oslash;lemiddel i&nbsp;gassform (eller gass-\/v&aelig;skeblanding) tilbake til suget i&nbsp;kj&oslash;lemiddelkompressoren (1) etter gass-\/v&aelig;skeutskilleren (9) (for &aring; unng&aring; mulig v&aelig;skesjokk). H&oslash;ytrykksbeskyttelsesbryteren (12) brukes for &aring; unng&aring; overgrense for kj&oslash;lemiddeltrykket.
